You know, for this one, I would write a really thoughtful critique on what I love and what I don't love, but at this point there's nothing I don't love about it. I looked on the full-resolution image and couldn't find a single thing wrong besides one or two extra rough-draft markings that can be erased within two or three seconds and can be mistaken for extra details anyway. A nearly perfect masterpiece, as is to be expected from you, Wreky.
The ONLY thing that irks me about it is Chrysalis' drop shadow [that circle on the ground]. If the light is coming from the top right hand corner of the screen then the shadows should follow that light instead of casting straight down. The thing is, even that is almost obsolete because not even the show does that!
So, in lieu of any sort of bad thing to say about it without help, I'm just gonna go by the ratings on this one.
Vision: I've never really been sure what vision means in a work of art. I'm giving you a 4 out of 5 on the assumption that the vision means the idea for the initial work, and that it's incredibly difficult to get a 5 out of 5 on that definition of vision for a simple portrait of the Changeling Queen, however delightfully evil and original it may be.
Originality: Speaking of originality.. Hmm, words fail me.. OH, I REMEMBER NOW. 5 out of 5. In particular because of the energy streaks emanating from her hooves, and because of the way you made her torso into a ribcage look, and how there's an empty spot where the heart is. Really opens up the imagination to possibilities. I personally like to think that that hole is where she keeps the love she steals from other ponies, and it's like the power core of her transformation into Cadance or other ponies. But that's just me.. [You know, someone could write a fanfic on every single one of your images, Wreky. You should be proud of yourself for that; I would give originality 6 out of 5 if I could.]
Technique: Do I even need to repeat what I've said in your other critiques? YES, I DO, BECAUSE I LOVE SAYING IT. 5 out of 5. You know why? Because I can't stress this enough: I. LOVE. YOUR. ATTENTION TO DETAIL. It's marvelous in every aspect imaginable. The holes in Chrysalis' mane and tail are beautifully done over and filled in to look as though they're tears. The wings are magnificent because they look feathered AND low-opacity?!?! IMPOSSIBRU! But awesome, really awesome, like so awesome that I think I might die. So yeah, 5/5 for that.
Impact:: Just take my 5 out of 5 before I die from the impact this had on me.
Overall: Wreky, for the hundredth time, I love this artwork. I love this artwork, I love everything about this artwork, and I love everything about your style of artwork. Please, for the love of Celestia, keep making these incredible drawings so that I can keep exploring my own creative and critical mind in these critiques, because honestly, they're the greatest MLP works I've ever seen, even if I can't use them in my own deviations.
I think I am going to put the summary at the beginning. This Is Amazing.
Chrysalis: Shadowing is nice on the body itself, showing off features and adding a depth to the body shape that could of never been shown otherwise. The shape itself is good, the tall slender really shows well, and gives a nice impression of size. Colouring of the chitin is fantastic, and blends incredibly well into the body itself giving a nice mix of fantasy and realism to the image. The mane and tail are absolutely stunning, stranded and decayed at the same time yet you somehow made it look as though its how it should be. As usual the eyes are your strong point, so much depth behind them and the colouring adds a whole extra layer behind the look. The horn is not something I would think I would ever find myself commenting, but as Chrysalis' is so unique within the show it deserves some recoginition. The extra detail is nice, the almost ethereal glow actually making the horn almost pop out of the image. The decay on the legs, wings and hair all look really good. The decay on the legs themselves, almost leaking power is a wonderful addition to the whole aesthetic. Background: Not much I can say other than I really like it.
Main Likes: The eyes, the chitin, and the hair all have so much detail and blend nicely.
Dislikes: As usual it is incredibly hard to find fault with your work, my only complaint, and it took a long while to find, would be the back left leg looks too far forward for the position to be stable.
Theres a lot of detail in this image and because of that a question rises in me. You show her tail to be made of hair or make it look to be hair but with the holes how can you explain the way hair keeps that position? either she uses a lot of hairspray or is too dirty its sticky and doesnt fall off, I know its for the sake of the effect shown in the cartoon but I guess thats the same reason why they never gave so much detail to it, to keep the effect (not that the hair in any other character has a lot of detail but I just felt like pointing that out). The detail in the necklace is incredible it seems to be part of her caparace or is it supposed to be part of it? The cavity in her chest and the green stuff growing in the holes in her legs give it a feel of undead, if you ever played Metroid Prime Corruption thats how spacepirates look after being corrupted by phazon if it is a coincidence then it was an amazing one if its not and you intended that I have to say It was nicely captured, however I have to say that horses (if she were to be one) dont have the ribs in that position, once mor I know is for the sake of the effect and to give a more human look to it as it is always easier to correlate to human like characters but like I said before I just wanted to point that out. As for the magical horn, I love the gooey effect on magic.
